Step by step
- Count the taps from 'I see a defect' to 'it is recorded'. Form-first apps take four before the photo.
- Check the photo limit per item and whether markup destroys the original.
- Read the paywall: is export free? Does sync cost per device?
- Try two on the same house; send yourself both reports; keep the one you would send a client.
- Read the one-star reviews, they describe the day the app failed someone.
